Program Notes
Based on the folksong based of the same name, “Kum Aroys Tsu Mir Mayn Libster,” is a love song sung from the point of view of a lover waiting for the arrival of their beloved. As they wait through the spring day, it becomes apparent to the protagonist that the lover is not arriving. The composition is modeled after 16th-century madrigal, but also incorporates other forms and styles from later periods such as Chorale and fugato writing.
